Honoring Veterans
Horizon Hospice & Palliative Care is very grateful for our nation’s freedom. We know that great sacrifice was required of Military Veterans and their families to secure and maintain this freedom. Since one-in-four Americans facing end-of-life today is a Military veterans, we consider it a great privilege to honor our unsung heroes with a special award ceremony. This event includes uniformed Honor Guard members from Fairchild Air Force Base, a framed achievement certificate, a lapel pin presented by the Honor Guard, and a blanket depicting the insignia of each branch of service. This celebration is held with family members and friends, and is often followed by a festive cake or favorite appetizers. Local media has covered these events, and family members have traveled a great distance to celebrate the service of their loved one. One Vet acknowledged through tears that this was the first time in his life he had been thanked for his service. We believe in giving honor where honor is due, and our Military Vets certainly do deserve to be honored.
